Thailand: Island Life, Ocean Adventure

Sold Out - Join Waiting List

Unsettled Phuket: A week of island co-living, followed by five days on a liveaboard boat.

Feel like you’re overdue for some action? Phuket is a jolt of the senses! Food and nightlife, sand and surf, and PEOPLE, this island has the electricity you need to shock your routine. These two weeks in Thailand are all about plugging in – to ourselves, to each other, to nature. Spend the first week of your trip working poolside from our luxury mountaintop villa where you'll enjoy meals prepared by our private chef. Spend the evenings exploring the colors and smells of Phuket's famed night markets, or losing yourself in the chaos of its uninhibited nightlife. But the adventure doesn’t stop there. After a week, we’ll trade our flip-flops for dive fins and embark on a five-day liveaboard tour of Thailand’s Similan Islands. Sip cocktails on secluded beaches, snorkel, dive, and kayak the turquoise waters of the Andaman Sea and the colorful mosaic of life that lives beneath.

Thailand: Island Life, Ocean Adventure Highlights

ISLAND LIFE

ISLAND LIFE

Beaches and luxury resorts to the west, dramatic limestone cliffs to the east, hiking in the north, and hippie vibes in the south. Phuket, Thailand's largest island and "Jewel of the Andaman" has no shortage of adventure. Chaotic and vibrant or quiet and cozy, each region has its own personality. If you don't like one, it's a short walk up the road to the next.

CO-LIVING

CO-LIVING

If there's a better place in Phuket to connect with new friends, we haven't heard of it. We'll begin our days with a morning lesson in yoga, tai chi, Muay Thai, and more. And together we'll swim, eat, dive, connect, and share for 12 days. And we'll do it all against the backdrop of a private 15-bedroom mountainside villa and a 30m sailing yacht.

NIGHTLIFE

NIGHTLIFE

Phuket Provence is much more than its infamous sin city, Patong. You can grab a craft cocktail in the artsy capital, Phuket Town or catch a movie on the beach in laid-back Rawai. No matter your idea of a great night out, there's something here that will help you kick back and plug in to the energy of the island long into the night.

FOOD

FOOD

The food of Phuket is like nowhere else on earth. With influences from mainland Thailand, China, and Europe, the island's confluence of cultures is illustrated in no better way than with the unique combination of ingredients in every delicious dish. Most meals in the villa and ALL meals on the boat are included in the price. Oh, and did we mention our private chefs?

DIVING & SNORKELING

DIVING & SNORKELING

Are you a certified diver? Or, maybe you're looking for an excuse to get certified? How about snorkeling? Our private liveaboard boat will cruise the Similan Islands where you can see whale sharks, manta rays, ancient coral reefs, and schools of fish so vast they take minutes to pass by. Water sports not your thing? Spend your days bobbing on the waves of the Andaman Sea, enjoying three daily meals prepared by our onboard chef.

On land ...

There’s always an adventure to be had. Here’s what one of your days on the island could look like:

7:00am: It's still early for most of Phuket, but today you're up with the sun and ready to roll. You make a pot of coffee for the house, grab a lounge chair by the pool, and return a few emails before breakfast.

9:00am: You chip in by helping with the dishes. Everyone shares their plans for the day, and you decide to squeeze in a couple more work things before lunch.

12:30pm: Your housemate reads about a food stall that sells the island's best Moo Hong. A group of you jump on your motorbikes to grab lunch.

1:30pm: On your way home, you all decide to check out a nearby waterfall. You buy a beer from a street vendor and lose yourself in a debate about the best cuisine in the world (it HAS to be Thailand, right?).

4:00pm: You finally return to the villa, ready for a nap. But you force yourself to finish a few things before you close your eyes.

6:00pm: You wake up to music downstairs. One of your housemates bought a bottle of rum from Chalong Bay Distillery and is mixing drinks. Your Italian housemates are making dinner.

9:00pm: Dinner's done, but your night isn't. You and your housemates head to Bang Tao to check out the night market for some coconut ice cream. Later, you grab a nightcap at a bamboo beach bar and watch the fire dancers.

11:30pm: You're invited to a party in Patong, but eventually decide to take a tuk-tuk back to the villa. A few people are opening one more bottle of wine on the balcony as they watch the hum of the streets below.

At sea...

7:00am: A light breakfast of fruit and coffee is ready on the main deck. You could sleep all day, but we've just moored at Richelieu Rock, one of the best dive sites in the world. Time to get up.

8:00am: Dive number 1. Nearly infinite visibility as you soar over ancient coral formations more than 10,000 years old. Nearby a leopard shark sleeps on a bed of sand.

9:00am: A full western breakfast is ready for you by the time you've stripped off your gear. The fresh-squeezed juice is especially good after the salty water.

11:30am: After a surface interval, it's time to get back in the water for dive number two. There are too many fish to count. You're amazed later when your dive guide is able to name every single one.

1:00pm: Lunch is served. You could eat those stir-friend noodles for every meal.

3:00pm: Change of plans. The captain heard on the radio that a whale shark is nearby, and we're steaming toward it. Everyone's on the dive deck with snorkels and fins -- whale sharks tend to swim on the surface, so it's easy to see them without scuba gear. You're in the water as soon as the captain kills the engine.

6:00pm: You barely even notice your dinner in front of you. Everyone is still buzzing. A whale shark! It circled our boat for close to an hour! It was terrifying and beautiful and inspiring all at once.

8:00pm: No night dive tonight, so a few of you grab some beers from the galley and head to the sun deck where people point out their favorite constellations. Due either to exhaustion or inspiration, you doze off beneath the stars.

An Unsettled trip is like venturing into the unknown. You have no idea how the experience or people you’ll meet will be… but that unknown proved to be a very rewarding experience. You’ll leave Unsettled richer. Richer in the memories you create and the connections you make. Worth every minute.

FAQs

Most people on an Unsettled retreat are professionals with multidimensional personalities and vast interests. This isn't a post-college party trip. Our average age of participants is mid 30's to mid 40's, but we've hosted folks of all ages. Living Unsettled is truly ageless.

See our most up-to-date travel policies here.

No. Unsettled Thailand can be enjoyed by anyone, even if you don't join us at the bottom of the sea! If you're not a diver, you can still enjoy 5 days on our liveaboard with unlimited snorkeling, meals, dazzling views, kayaks, beaches, and so much more!

If you are a diver (or plan to get certified before departure), a PADI Open Water (or other equivalent agency) certification is required for diving. An advanced certificate is preferred.

Unsettled will arrange for airport transfers from Phuket International airport on the first day of the retreat (we call it "arrival day") on April 22nd. If you arrive on the island before or after arrival day, you'll be in charge of your own transportation to our villa for check-in.
