Sailing Tahiti
These islands is known as the beating heart of Polynesia, partially because it is home to 75% of the region’s population and from the palpable energy you feel from how the mountains and tropical valleys meet the crystal clear lagoons of the South Pacific.
If you’ve ever dreamed of a trip through the South Pacific, this is your chance.
Our meeting point is at Raiatea Airport (RFP) on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Please arrive by 1 pm local time. Our base is about 1km from the airport, and we will provide further instructions in the final 2 weeks before the start date.
Please note that all international flights fly into French Polynesia via Faa'a International Airport (PPT); a different island than our base. You will likely fly in a night or two before to PPT on the island of Tahiti, before taking a short transfer flight on the morning of October 18 to Raiatea.
You can depart Raiatea on Saturday, October 25th starting at 10 am.
The boundaries between work, life, and travel are becoming blurred, fundamentally changing how we live today. Unsettled brings together groups of travelers and professionals from around the world for uniquely co-created experiences.
Our trips are community-driven and co-created designed to break your routine and inspire a renewed sense of growth, meaning and adventure. You can expect to be hands-on and contribute throughout the experience. You can expect to sit down and think about our itinerary with our skippers, take the helm, raise the sails, drop the anchor, cook family-style meals, pitch in and clean shared spaces, throw themed parties at night, and much more. There are no passengers on these trips, only crew!
These trips also bring lots of social time, adventure, and, unlike the world we live in, unknown and unpredictable elements for how we move, live, and explore life this week.
No! Most participants do not have any sailing experience, and many get to learn on the trip as it is a very hands-on experience!

Every day is different. On two of our days, we will have longer sails of 5 - 6 hours to and from Bora-Bora. Most other days will include 2-4 hours of sailing and plenty of time in the water, beaches, and land trips.
Most people on an Unsettled retreat are professionals who are deeply curious, have many hobbies, and are kind and courteous. This isn't a post-college party trip. Our average age of participants is mid 30's to mid 40's, but we've hosted folks of all ages. Living Unsettled is truly ageless.
We've hosted CEOs and entrepreneurs, artists and experience designers, and people who are active, even experts, in everything from transcendental meditation to CrossFit, from Bikram yoga to kiteboarding, and from diving to flying. On any given day, however, most of us are content hanging out with each other, exploring new places, and trying new things.
Since thinking big about our work and careers is one of the organizing principles of Unsettled, many participants are high achievers who organize major conferences, run businesses or are even recognized experts in their field. We have a lot of designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and startup enthusiasts on our trips. All of this being said, it's not required to be working on something or have a "professional CV" in order to live Unsettled with us.
These experiences are social by definition, and so one of our main qualifications is to look for people who share some simple principles:
Open to spending time with people from different cultures with different value sets
Curious about the people and the world around them
Considerate of others
Basically, as long as you're not an asshole, you'll fit right in
Unsettled covers breakfasts and lunches on the boat. We gather input on your preferences and non-preferences and fill the boats with breakfast and lunches.
Participants cover and curate dinners. We typically pair a couple of participants together to cook one dinner during the week, and you and your partner will pay for the ingredients for that meal. You can also curate a little of that evening, open some wine, choose the playlist, pick a game to play, etc. Some nights it's great to make a quick and easy meal with a game afterward, while others go all in to cook a nice meal.
Breakfast and lunch are typically on the boat each day, sometimes it's a quick meal to go sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. early, and other times we take our time at anchor for a good meal together.
Food and drink costs are more expensive in Tahiti than almost anywhere in the world, whether that's the meal you're buying for dinner to make on the boat or it's going out for drinks on land. Most food is shipped into these islands.
We eat most meals on the boats on this trip and make room for 2 or 3 dinners and 1 or 2 lunches on shore during the week.
Alcohol is not included. We make a group list before the trip and typically 1 or 2 participants go shopping for drinks before we depart.
Our boats are typically 42 - 44 foot catamarans and/or 50-54 foot monohulls. They typically have 4 cabins (or bedrooms) and each cabin sleeps 2, for a total of 7 - 8 people typically per boat. All cabins are shared unless you checkout with a private cabin option. Shared cabins typically mean you have a small room with a queen-sized bed and a toilet and shower directly accessible from your cabin. It's common to bring friends, and partners, or come alone, in which case we will pair you with a same-gender crew member in your cabin.
Good question!
We share lots of info about the trip starting 4 to 5 weeks before your trip starts. At this time, you will begin to get emails with more info about arrivals, our community values, eating preferences & provisions, packing list, and we'll even hold a zoom call for everyone on the trip.
We anchor the boats in the calmest coves we can find. We anchor before sunset so we can relax, debrief, enjoy a happy hour toast, cook, and eat dinner as a group. We may plan 1- 2 "party nights" where we can let loose and have fun, and on other nights we have family-style meals, star gaze, play a game, go to bed early, and/or sip our favorite drinks in paradise.
This has been one of our most popular requested trips, so it may fill up fast.
It's a great idea. We do it. You are welcome to do your own research and travel how you like. Our recommendation is to explore Mo'orea. It's close to the int'l airport so you can arrive early and ferry to Mo'orea or you can stay a few extra days after our sailing trip. We will share more info closer to the trip.
From the time we depart the dock on Saturday until we return, plan to spend about $250 - $350 USD during the trip. This includes two dinners out, an adventure on Bora-Bora. Depending on how you drink alcohol, you can spend the low end of this budget if you don't drink to several hundred dollars if you order a few mixed drinks at each stop.
Drop us your email and we'll keep you posted with news, fresh stories, exclusive trip updates, and special offers. Don't worry. We hate spam as much as the next person, and respect your privacy.
