At Unsettled, our community thrives on diverse perspectives, backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and identities. We extend an invitation to all who embrace these values of respect and inclusivity of others. Our community is built on a foundation of mutual respect, where everyone is encouraged to engage in open dialogue and foster understanding. If you're like us, you seek out diversity and want to learn, experience, and grow from it. Welcome home.

Welcome to Cape Town
We’ve designed this experience to give you the freedom to fully immerse yourself in one of Africa’s most culturally rich and outdoors-driven destinations, while still staying productive. From curated dinner conversations in townships and spontaneous penguin adventures to vineyard tours, surf lessons, sunrise hikes and productivity workshops, your Cape Town experience opens you to endless opportunities for growth, connection, and inspiration.
In short, Unsettled Cape Town is about swamping out your routine for adventure.
Whether you're working full-time remotely, or going through an intentional career transition, our retreats are designed to help you break out of your routine and explore a new destination with a group of peers.
Each destination and experience is different. This two-week experience includes comfortable and centrally located accommodations, a coworking space, full-time staff dedicated to leading your experience, a productivity-driven environment, regular dinner parties, themed conversations, peer-to-peer workshops, curated events, and spontaneous activities.
The Unsettled experience is your experience! We create just enough structure so that you can work remotely, plug into the different activities, workshops, and connect with people as you wish.
Nothing is required, and everything is voluntary; however, we do look for people who contribute and highly recommend that you do. Typically, the more you put into your experience, the more you get out. Our role is to provide a platform so you are informed and can participate as you like.
Most weekdays are unstructured work days; however, you can almost expect something going on every day whether it's a few participants getting together or an Unsettled activity we have planned. We keep most (but not all) Unsettled activities to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and late afternoons and evenings on weekdays.
If you are working on this trip, we suggest leaving Fridays - Sundays open as well as the evenings, whenever possible. We will also share a calendar ahead of time.
We tend to have a fixed family-style group dinner once a week where everyone can check in and catch up with each other, as well as numerous other dinners, events, activities, and surprises throughout each week that everyone is welcome to join. You never know the kind of inspiration that can come through connecting with a community, so be sure to try and take advantage of it while you're able.
Of course!
In fact, we sometimes bring ours. We do ask that you keep in mind that this is a group retreat and that some of the most important aspects of the trip include socializing, collaborating, and working together. If you and yours are extremely private in nature, then a coliving and coworking retreat may not be for you. Let us know if you’re interested in bringing someone.
Our pricing for couples or friends sharing a room is that one person pays full price and the second person pays $1350 USD.
Our accommodations are centrally located in Green Point, downtown Cape Town.
It's a high-rise of apartments serviced like a hotel.
There are a couple of apartment options.
1. Your Private Studio Apartment
Our apartments are true studio apartments, meaning you have your own studio apartment with your room, an efficient kitchen, en suite bathroom, and living room, all effectively in the same room.
2. A private room in our 3-bedroom, 3-bath cottage.
Our cottage is on the ground floor of the apartment-hotel concept we have. Two of these rooms have en-suite baths and one of them is an out-of-suite bath (which means it's shared with any guests hanging out).
They are downtown, on the main street in Green Point. This means that it's super convenient; within a few blocks of some of our favorite nightspots, shopping, dining, and our coworking space. Being downtown does mean that they can receive street noise, and South Africa isn't Sweden. If you're sensitive to noisy streets or not used to downtown living, bring noise-canceling headphones or earplugs for sleeping for the best experience.
You can see more about our accommodations here. We also have an option where you can get your own accommodations somewhere in the city and pay a flat rate ($1350 USD.) to join the experience if you need to ensure you get what you need out of a living space.
Yes, we're excited for our setup!
There are 3 options for working depending on your needs.
First, you'll have access to our local work club (aka coworking space), with 4 locations in the city, including the one just a few blocks from your apartment.
Second, your apartment will have wifi, so you can always stay back and work.
Third, there are loads of hip cafes in the city to try out and work while experiencing Cape Town.
Participants who join Unsettled come for a variety of reasons, may be working various hours, and some may not be working a standard computer job much if any at all. We have events and activities planned throughout the week, many are self-organized by the participants themselves, and we aim to plan most of our official activities in the late afternoons, evenings, and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If you're working remotely full-time, you may miss some events, so be prepared for FOMO.
As soon as you pay your deposit, your spot for the trip is secured. This deposit remains refundable for 10 days following your payment, unless you pay within 60 days (no transfers or refunds within 60 days), subject to a $100 administrative fee. Should you need to transfer your payment, you can do so up to 60 days before the start date of your trip, also incurring a $250 administrative fee, and must use your credit within 12 months (void afterward). Please note that neither refunds nor transfers are available if there are fewer than 60 days remaining before your trip's start date. Additionally, all participants are required to obtain travel insurance. This insurance must cover trip cancellation or interruption, including cancellations made by you, as well as provide for emergency evacuation and international health insurance coverage throughout the duration of your travel with Unsettled. Participants must also sign Unsettled's Liability Waiver upon arrival.
Yes, we plan several meals throughout our two-weeks. Expect about 5 to 6 lunches and 5 to 6 dinners included across the trip. Some of these are homey-style meals we have 'at home' to bring the group together and others are out in Cape Town or on weekend adventures.
Drop us your email and we'll keep you posted with news, fresh stories, exclusive trip updates, and special offers. Don't worry. We hate spam as much as the next person, and respect your privacy.
