Unsettled: Patagonia

Sold Out - Join Waiting List

A two-week alpine experience to work remotely from and explore Argentina's Patagonia.

At the heart of the Argentine Patagonia’s Lakes District, lies one of the world's “most charming towns”: Bariloche. Surrounded by massive lakes and majestic mountains, Bariloche is the ideal mountain town with great internet and adventures at your fingertips. This trip is for those of us who can work remotely and want to step outside of your office. We will have a coworking space just steps away from our accommodations in central Bariloche. Adventures are abundant. On the weekends, you can create your own experiences from overnight backpacking trips to glacier hikes. But adventure isn’t the only reason to visit. With a downtown inspired by Swiss architecture, Bariloche’s chocolatiers, cafes, and craft breweries, filled with alpine charm, are great places to relax and recharge after a day of remote work. The only question left is: Are you ready for your next adventure?

FAQs

Unsettled: Patagonia is not your average travel or 'work from anywhere' experience. These two weeks are for remote workers who want to break out of their routine and adventure. You will learn. You will grow. You will be challenged. All while staying connected and being able to work.

You are responsible for getting to Bariloche by March 2nd, 2024. We will open our doors and kick things off that afternoon. You are welcome to depart anytime on March 16, or you can extend your stay and live Unsettled in Argentina as long as you can (and we have great tips to share on how to do just this!).

Yes! In fact, most of the time while away is up to you. The Unsettled experience is your experience, don't forget! We create just enough structure so that you can plug into the different activities, workshops, and connect with people as you wish.

Nothing is required, and everything is voluntary; however, we do look for people who contribute, and highly recommend that you do. Typically, the more you put into your experience, the more you get out. Our role is to provide a platform so you are informed and can participate as you like.

Most days are unstructured and open, as we designed this trip for remote workers.

We encourage you to explore places we recommend or discover your own new secret spots. We tend to have numerous dinners, excursions, activities, and surprises throughout the week that everyone is welcome to join. You never know the kind of inspiration that can come through connecting with a community, so be sure to try and take advantage of it while you're able.

Most people on an Unsettled retreat are professionals with multidimensional personalities and vast interests. This isn't a post-college party trip. Our average age of participants is mid 30's to mid 40's, but we've hosted folks of all ages. Living Unsettled is truly ageless.

We've hosted CEOs and entrepreneurs, artists and experience designers, and people who are active, even experts, in everything from transcendental meditation to CrossFit, from Bikram yoga to kiteboarding, and from diving to flying. On any given day however, most of us are content hanging out with each other, exploring new places and trying new things.

Since thinking big about our work and careers is one of the organizing principles of Unsettled, many participants are high achievers who organize major conferences, run businesses, or are recognized experts in their field. We have a lot of designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and startup enthusiasts on our trips.

All of this being said, it's not required to be working on something or have a "professional CV" in order live Unsettled with us. Many joining us are retired, taking a sabbatical, or deciding what comes next in life and looking for some inspiration.

At Unsettled, we truly focus on building retreats full of dynamic people who have much more to offer to the group than just work experience. These experiences are social by definition, and so one of our main qualifications is to look for people who share some simple principles:

  • Open to spending time with people from different cultures with different value sets
  • Curious about the people and the world around them
  • Considerate of others
  • Basically, as long as you're not an asshole, you'll fit right in.

Payments, Cancellations, and Refunds For Travel Experiences: As soon as you pay your deposit or any first payment, your spot for the trip is secured. Should you need to transfer your payment, you can do so up to 45 days before the start date of your trip, also incurring a $100 administrative fee. Please note that neither refunds nor transfers are available if there are fewer than 45 days remaining before your trip's start date. Additionally, all participants are required to obtain travel insurance. This insurance must cover trip cancellation or interruption, including cancellations made by you, as well as provide for emergency evacuation and international health insurance coverage throughout the duration of your travel with Unsettled.

As we've all learned during the past year, everything is subject to change. Please understand that these policies may change at any time due to the very fluid and unpredictable situation.

We also want you to know that we are committed to staying true to our values. We have learned from past challenges and are able to adjust as the environment changes. We pride ourselves on being a flux-minded company that deals well with uncertainty. We are excited to be traveling again and we are confident that now's the time for us to begin to get back into it, slowly but surely.
